We went home this weekend to Cedar Fort for the big celebration. First, was the waterfight. For any on you who don't know about the waterfight, every year on the 23rd of July (or the 22nd this year) the whole town of Cedar Fort has a waterfight. There are no rules, so if you are out walking around or driving with your doors unlocked or windows down, you WILL get wet or at least a water balloon thrown at you. If there is not enough action in your corner, you get a group of people in the back of a truck, fill up the closest water trough in the back of the truck, and drive around finding people to soak. The best is sneaking up on new people who have no idea and completely drenching them.
This "tradition" started way back when my grandma was a girl, and probably before that. All the girls in town would have family and friends over for the celebration the next day, so they would sleep outside. Every year, the boys in town would find where the girls were sleeping and drench them with a bucket of water. So, naturally, the girls would find the boys to get them back and so on and so forth. Well, it turned into an all day long event.
There were some years I can remember waterfighting all day long and laughing so hard it hurt.
It might sound a little bit honky, but it seriously is one of the funnest days of the whole year.
This year, the little kids did more waterfighting than we did:

| Cash and Quaid getting each other |

| i think we filled this bin 4 or 5 times. |
 |
| see what i mean about the trucks? |
 |
| my dad must have had blisters on his fingers from tying a couple hundred water balloons. |
The next day was the actual celebration starting with the parade thru town. here are some of my favorites.

We had to go to the carnival to get Cash's face painted.
Cash picked spider man and refused to wash it off. luckily it came off the next morning. :)

then to end it all, we went to the junior rodeo.
 |
| little miss lilly |
 |
| my nephew Quaid rode a sheep |
 |
| my nephew Jade rode a steer |
 |
| and my nephew Cayden chute dogged. it's not supposed to look like that, but i guess you call it a dog fall. it really just looks like it fell on top of him. |
 |
| cash did the chicken chase |
it was so good to go home and see all the people i grew up with and catch up. So many people out there influenced my life for the better and for that i am so thankful. :)
There truly is no place like home...thanks for such a fun post!
